A new month

Look at that sunrise...

Look at that sunrise...

Birthday and stables yesterday! It was gloriously sunny and frosty. Chilly, but fine so long as you were working. Another day when I should have had my camera but didn't. Will perhaps endeavour to pay more attention to the weather forecasts during December, see if I can get another beautiful frosty day like that.

Feel less exhausted and/or sore today than I'd expected! The November chained-to-the-sewing-machine drop in fitness hasn't actually been quite as bad as I'd thought. Hip still going numb a lot of the time, but being up and moving obviously helps with that. Got to have a little ride yesterday too, which I hadn't expected. Didn't feel fit enough for it, but didn't feel as horrific as I'd imagined I would. So in turn I didn't feel too guilty for inflicting myself on the poor neddie! He graciously did his best and was a kind ride as always.

The quality of the light yesterday was just stunning. At sunset, everything glowed golden and fiery. This is the HighlandXAppaloosa looking gorgeous, but I wish I'd gotten a decent pic of one of the chestnuts or Pablo the palomino. Pablo is quite a muted washed-out shade of palomino, but in yesterday's beautiful wintry sunset his coat looked richer, like a shiny coin.

Think I'll have to do just Wednesdays during December (to allow time to finish up the last bespoke orders) and then back to the normal two days a week from the New Year. But at any rate, felt so good for being outside and active again, it makes you realise how much animals and fresh air do for you and how much of an effect it has when you don't have those things.

Anyway, the birthday (and birth-month!) was lovely. The cat brought me no less than four rats yesterday (one still alive), which was a gift I really could have done without receiving... But the boy brought me mulled wine and his excellent company (he was meant to be working all day and night), which was lush.

Have been wrapping a few Christmas presents this morning. Feels early, but we've actually only got three weeks before we drive home for Christmas, lots to do before then. But otherwise, I think today is going to be one of those hibernation days I've been craving. Toasty fire, hot water bottle, cups of tea and something warm for lunch. No pressure to do anything.
