Out of the Studio

Well, I am taking a week's stay-cation...! Time to recharge the batteries and potter around on our narrowboat like the lucky girl I am :-)

I will be "out of the studio" until 7th July. Emails, requests and OOAK purchases will be dealt with upon my return.

So I thought I would leave you with some beautiful pictures of one of my previous bespoke projects. This commission is a gorgeous example of why I love working with you all. Without fail, the clients we get for decorative bridal and corsetry are creative, passionate, and kind people. It makes my work a joy.

You share stuff with us. You share the things you love. Stories, pictures, aesthetics, memories... You share your own artwork or pics from your garment collection. You tell us about the cabinets you have full of personal, precious things, or about your favourite beach, or about your enjoyment of watching the couture shows and Met Ball each year. You give us a little glimpse of your soul, and let us interpret what we find there into beautiful garments. It's a treat.

The "Tjarn" corset, shown here, was made a couple of years back, for delightful Elle. Happily she, and her photographer husband, sent me some stunning images. They took the Tjarn corset to its natural environment... a place of dark water, slippery stones, soft mosses, and lush grasses... and created some inspiring art to bring the experience full circle.

Sometimes, new clients think they need to have every detail decided before contacting me. This isn't the case. Indeed, I find it easier to dream up a design for you if your starting ideas are rather fluid and unformed. Pull together inspiration images, colours, music, whatever captivates you, and share it with me on email. There are always a million beautiful ideas to consider, but what we're good at is teasing out the best ones... transforming a fleeting feeling or atmosphere into a tangible garment, a piece of wearable art, to be treasured forever.

When I'm back on the 7th July, the website will be getting a re-jig along with a price rise of around 50% across the board for both bridal and corsetry.

Existing clients, feel free to use this week to send in your measurements and such! New clients, do send in your ideas/requests whilst I'm off (enquiries sent in before the end of June and confirmed before 14th July will be at the current price-point, prices rising thereafter) and I'll reply as soon as I can. The address is, as ever, jenni@sparklewren.co.uk

Elle now has four of our corsets, which is another joy of our work... Clients often become Collectors, which allows us to learn ever more about you, to understand better and better what you consider beautiful. To learn how best to make art with you.

Anyway, I really must stop writing, so many little emails and bits to wrap up before even the shortest of holidays! I hope everyone has a lovely week and I'll chat with you again soon.
