A Lazy Sunday
Well, half off it was lazy!
Yesterday, I spent the morning finishing off some stitching, then we went to Finchale Priory (pronounced “Finkle”) for a couple of hours. Despite living in Durham for about 3 years now, we had never visited!
It truly is a beautiful place, of course. Silly me left my camera in the car, but I doubt my photographs would have been very good anyway. Instead of capturing the centuries old craftsmanship I would probably have managed to take a photo of the stone where a gentleman named “Kev” has lately carved his name ![]()
Then it was on to a client fitting in the afternoon, which was quite exciting as we are almost finished on her corset! She chose a simple black silk taffeta overbust. Her boyfriend was the winning bidder of a bespoke corset through the Durham University Charity Fashion Show, but as she isn’t from Durham (and we wanted to do the fittings in person), the process has been drawn out longer than usual. In the end, the fashion show didn’t print up their sponsor’s adverts in the brochure, so my little advertising image never got used and they were bidding blind! But the whole event raised quite a bit of money for Help For Heroes, which was great.
Then the evening was spent drooling over striped silk jacquards, which I am desperately trying to justify purchasing.

All-in-all, a good Sunday.
