Back to work
Hi guys, after a thoroughly refreshing mini-break I am back to work!
We popped down to the Yorkshire Dales, managing to fit in visits to two show caves (Ingleborough and White Scar), with a very childish couple of hours spent at The Forbidden Corner on the way back.
A pretty waterfall in White Scar Caves. These routes are totally safe and touristy, of course, but it’s still pretty cool to have to bend for low parts of the roof and such. The White Scar Caves were less brightly lit than Ingleborough Caves too, which made it more fun. There’s a wonderful cavern at the end of the route, but photographs are not allowed.
I thought this dummy (representing Christopher Long) was kind of weird though! It’s meant to represent Long first discovering the cave system by crawling through a fissure in the rock in his summer shorts with candles wedged into his bowler hat to light the way. The man was clearly a 1920’s thrill-seeker! But the poor dummy, bless it, looks instead as though it has died on the journey.
And here’s my boyfriend standing in the mouth of a monster at the entrance to the Forbidden Corner. We had a great time there, excellent childish fun! The best moment was when we happened to be left exploring a set of corridors without any screaming children and tired families around us. With the total quiet (and a leap of imagination) it was actually quite creepy! Imagine hosting a Halloween party there…
So, I am thoroughly refreshed and relaxed (which was just what I needed after those two weeks preparing for the wedding fair), and I am now back sparklewrening. I’ve been rearranging my workroom having gotten a couple of machines back from the repair guy, so now it’s back to work on my current client orders.
