Corset design sketches for Summer Breeze
Essentially, Breezer would like a longline underbust corset drafted to more curvy proportions than we have done previously.
| This overbust corset was made following a set of drafting instructions to create a 5 piece pattern. Whilst lovely, it doesn’t give the nipped-in silhouette that Breezer would like for her next corset. | |
| You can see how this piece (actually drafted to my own measurements, and using my current preferred placement of the side-seam, etc.) actually creates a much more dramatic curve at the waist. It is this shape we will replicate in the current commission. |
She loves the black exterior casings that I have been trying out recently and would like to couple them with a rich pink-red silk.
Now, finding the perfect shade of silk is going to be the challenge. We need to find something that really glows and asserts itself, without being loud and obnoxious. The selection of dupionis I have has a couple of promising colours, but you’d be surprised how some of them don’t relate to the black satin coutil very well. So I have also suggested trying other suppliers and other fabrics (for example, I think a soft silk charmeuse would be divine). We have a measurements/fabrics appointment scheduled for this coming Friday, so hopefully we’ll get some decisions made then
