That’s “Durham University Charity Fashion Show” to you guys!
This year it is being held in aid of Help for Heroes, a charity which aims to provide better facilities for wounded British servicemen and women, and I am providing a prize of a fully bespoke corset for the show’s auction.
This means that I need to get an advert ready for their program by this Friday! So, it’s a quarter page of A5 (about 53mm by 75mm, which is about 300 pixels across as shown below) and to be printed in black & white. Now, I find black & white quite limiting (whilst other people can make magic with it), and have come up with three potential options:
I love this image. But is it obvious enough that the focus is the corset? And that she’s even wearing a corset rather than an elaborate belt or top?
Again, I like the feel of this image and think the model comes across as really cool. But you don’t see the corset so well.
And again, I love this pose, but wonder if the contrast is too high… are we losing detail? At least it’s obvious that the brand is about corsets though!
I think these are okay, but being so closely involved in my work it’s difficult to know what’s best. And do I need more text? I don’t want to overwhelm or spoil the attractiveness of the image… I will be emailing the image to the organiser tomorrow, so any opinions would be great.
