Foundations Revealed
The team behind online magazine Your Wardrobe Unlock’d have now created something that (in my opinion) promises to be even better! Foundations Revealed is an online magazine due to go live 15th October, and it is dedicated to the study of corsetry.
I believe (and hope) that the emphasis is going to be upon the pursuit of excellence… by getting into the real “nitty-gritty” of corset-making, this magazine could become one of the few indispensable online resources for the aspiring corsetmaker. Further, for those who are already accomplished makers, the site promises to put forward new challenges so that we are constantly encouraged to work harder, explore more, and try new things. I truly hope the corset-making community will begin to reach for the moon under the magazine’s encouragement and that the craft of corset-making can perhaps reclaim the variety and beauty that we see in all those antique fashion plates and trade cards.
With all that in mind, Cathy Hay of “Harman Hay” (the lady behind YWU and FR), has provided a pattern drafting masterclass for free! Download it, share it with your friends, bookmark it, and most importantly learn from it. By breaking the process down into its basic parts, you’ll begin to see how drafting on the flat (without even starting from a bodice block) can create stunning corset patterns.
