dreams

Self-taught corsetiere Jenni Hampshire created Sparklewren in 2009 as she is happiest producing dreamy, labour-intensive, droplets of sparkling corset loveliness. She works from her home-studio in Birmingham, UK.

Exceptionally nipped-in waists and beautifully sloping sweetheart lines are further enhanced through intricately cut and invisibly hand-stitched lace (antique or contemporary), placed to visually accentuate the hourglass figure. True Swarovski crystals in complementary shades twinkle like stars or snowflakes across the surface. Cotton coutil provides the strength of your corset whilst silk provides the beauty, sleekly shining or subtly shimmering as you move.

Dozens of individually marked out channels hold hand-cut and tipped steels transforming the corset into a beautifully firm shell, a piece of divine couture armor. Rigidly shaped they are reminiscent of steam-moulded baleen corsets of the Victorian era, but each bespoke piece is precisely cut to every elegant peak and dip of your body. Individually measured hand-stitched flossing finishes hundreds of channels, requiring hours upon hours of care and concentration.

Gentle sweetheart shaping to the upper back echoes Edwardian corset design, a signature detail of Sparklewren's aesthetic. Black silk satin lines the corset for a completely decadent experience and upon completion the garment is stamped with Sparklewren's mark.

These are the qualities of the archetypal Sparklewren corset. A distillation of those elements of corset design that Jenni finds most fascinating.

Throughout the website you will find corsets that explore luxe, contemporary, historical and innovative approaches to corsetry. While wildly disparate and inventive, each piece retains some connection to those archetypal Sparklewren details outlined here. Each corset produced allows Jenni to develop and explore the signature details of her corsetry.
