The Regal Gown

Produced in collaboration with queen of burlesque Immodesty Blaize, this corset with overskirt combined sleek satin, layered lace, a wealth of steels, and hundreds of hours hand-finishing for a perfectly proportioned gown.

Metallic lace sparkles beneath intricately cut and placed antique black laces, creating an encrusted and regal finish. Silk chiffon drapes flow from the Sparklewren signature sweetheart shaping to the upper back of the corset, adding movement to the garment, whilst a structured train is weighted to drag elegantly behind you as you walk.

Conceived in other colour schemes, the Regal Gown can become a completely unique bridal option. No two gowns will ever be the same.

Prices start at £4000.

The Sweetheart Overbust

This elegantly fine and labour-intensive special occasion corset (right) distills many of the key Sparklewren interests. Beautiful curving hips and an exaggerated bust-line emphasise deliciously dramatic hourglass waist shaping, whilst the corset is smoothly supported by approximately 50 fine steel bones. The Butterfly represents a yet another small evolutionary moment for Sparklewren, where emerging signature details (such as the gentle sweetheart shaping to the upper back, invisible hand-finishing, and elegant placement of design features) established themselves as a constant, signifying the care and quality poured into each subsequent corset.

This classic design has been reinterpreted in numerous ways. Daringly low midbust plunges, soaring peaked toplines, or elegant and modest sweetheart curves... with flossing, crystals, antique or contemporary laces... with fashion-forward hip projections or super-smooth cinched waists fit for princeses... in slubby or smooth silks, satins, or diamond-leathers.

The design found its ultimate expression, however, in the Champagne Pink Crystal and Powder Blue pieces that Sparklewren recently produced...

The Broche Corset Dress

Traditional corsetry coutil with a sturdy hand and spot broche texture takes us instantly back to the 1940s. Vintage Camp corsets, peach girdles, the move from strong corsetry fabrics to lighter elasticated alternatives saw functionality, austerity and a feminine desire for decoration collide in unusual garments.

The first Sparklewren corset-dress was a Broche Ribbon Dress that reflected this time. Details from vintage Dior girdles clashed with Victorian waist-shaping, resulting in an innovative corset-dress in crisp white spot broche. Cheeky half-cups and widely cut hips were wrapped in satin ribbons, whilst woven ribbon skirt parts and exterior casings gave a sense of the tactile relationship between the corset and the body.

A second corset-dress abandoned the ribbons, showing how a clean and simple garment can retain the stamp of the maker. Clean lines were contrasted with a detachable trim of ethically sourced rabbit fur, whilst decorative exterior casings curved above and below the waist emphasising dramatic and modern "boxy" waist and hip shaping. This dress further cemented Sparklewren's interest in creating carefully considered patterning that is inspired by each client's own particular physique.

Prices start at £700 for a corset-dress with mini-skirt length, £1000 upwards for ankle-length pieces.

The 1882 Corset Body

This full corset body is a design that can be wild or gentle, featuring style lines from an original 1882 corset patent transmogrified into a delightfully modern garment.

First came the 1882 Future Fetish body in corded ruby metallic silk dupioni, with a laced crotch for a salacious effect. This was closely followed by the 1882 Nude body in smooth pale silk and ivory lace for a more delicate look. Each piece allowed Jenni to explore unusual patterning and fit challenges. She created corded gores and gussets and conical rib-shaping, all the while developing her skills for precise fit. The legacy of this piece is that Sparklewren continues to be obsessed with creating exceptional fit through both classic and innovative patterning.

The corset-body is a challenging garment that Sparklewren has revisited many times over. From tight Victorian-inspired waists to 18th century influenced modern bodies where the waist is left free to highlight an athletic silhouette with ribbon-ties, compressed busts, pure silk damasks and leather detailing... extended spines and attached collars... tightlaced waists encased in sheer fabrics and uncommon patterning. The Sparklewren corset-body is a signature piece that has scope for endless development.

Prices start at £800.

The Disco "Swiss" Cincher

Narrow "Swiss" cinchers feature points at front and back and a short length at the sides, for a flattering and versatile little garment.

Often finished with Victorian lacing details (either at back to create lacing that stays put with a minimum of slippage, or angled at front as "riding lacing" allowing for a further adjustment to fit), these little cinchers are built as robustly as Sparklewren's other corsets and are perfect for a small amount of smoothing and shaping.

The Diamond Disco (shown right) expresses the Sparklewren fascination with all things shimmering! Precious diamond-effect leather artfully clashes with the textural overlay of antique lace and is toned down by black dupioni silk binding.

Sparklewren's wish to take the lavish and decorative elements of corsetry into more casual and versatile garments is revealed in this piece. Further iterations of the idea have included riding lacing, Edwardian-inspired gusseted patterning, time-intensive hand-embroidered surface decoration, and her own take on classic "silk and lace" combinations.

Prices start at £350.
